Common orchard / cocksfoot grass- Dactylis glomerata

The common orchard grass is a wintergreen eyrie plant. It has up to 10 mm wide, longitudinally folded leaves.

The flowers are arranged in small ears, which are densely packed. Very often there is a protruding lowermost panicle branch.

The fruits remain connected to the ciliated glume and a lemma. This makes velcro distribution possible in addition to distribution by wind and water.

Effect of orchard / cocksfoot grass

The common grass is a very valuable forage grass, which is characterized by nutrient richness, yield richness and good resistance. However, if it is used early, the plant nests die and gaps appear in the stand, which can easily lead to weeds. Grazing and treading are also tolerated only to a limited extent.
