Typical Raclette Cheese Requirement per Person
The amount of raclette cheese needed depends on the guests’ enthusiasm for cheese and their appetite.
However, our experience over the past years shows that you can calculate a cheese quantity of 150 to 200 grams per person for raclette.
The Raclette Bread | Hand-Food Tip
Raclette is almost a universal genius, which many people actually don’t know. Indoors, it is usually made with Raclette Grills. But it also works outdoors.
Outdoors, half Raclette Cheese Wheels are used. These are clamped into a grilling device which is usually operated with electricity or gas. You can see what that looks like Here
But it also works over an open fire (wood grill or fire bowl). You just need to build a simple device. You can find an example here. The distance between the fire and the stone can thus be continuously adjusted – and it’s romantic, too.
Raclette as a Plated Dish | with Potatoes and other Ingredients
In this case, the raclette grill is usually placed in the center of the table, accessible to all guests. The potatoes lying on the plate are “doused” with the melted raclette cheese.
Other ingredients could include mini corn cobs, mushrooms, pickles, onions or silver onions, olives, … simply everything your heart desires.
Meat is also, of course, perfectly suitable. Don’t forget pepper and chili for all guests who prefer it spicier.
