This makes sense, but completely foregoing those joyful hours with loved ones – that can’t be right either! And there actually is an alternative – the private Christmas market with friends and dear people!

A Christmas market in your own garden or on a large terrace not only looks great but is also immense fun to decorate. With just simple means and an open fire, it’s possible to transform your available space into a small Christmas market.

Once set up, you can then spend time enjoying good food and delicious mulled wine throughout the Christmas season – and even through the winter.

  • Our raclette cheese, as a quarter wheel (cheese loaf), has a spicy, aromatic cheese body and a soft, delicate, melting consistency with a mild-spicy aroma. Brought directly from the raclette grill onto the bread – that’s where the enjoyable sun literally rises!

Typical Raclette Cheese Requirement per Person

The amount of raclette cheese needed depends on the guests’ enthusiasm for cheese and their appetite.

However, our experience over the past years shows that you can calculate a cheese quantity of 150 to 200 grams per person for raclette.

The Raclette Bread | Hand-Food Tip

Raclette is almost a universal genius, which many people actually don’t know. Indoors, it is usually made with Raclette Grills. But it also works outdoors.

Outdoors, half Raclette Cheese Wheels are used. These are clamped into a grilling device which is usually operated with electricity or gas. You can see what that looks like Here

But it also works over an open fire (wood grill or fire bowl). You just need to build a simple device. You can find an example here. The distance between the fire and the stone can thus be continuously adjusted – and it’s romantic, too.

Raclette as a Plated Dish | with Potatoes and other Ingredients

In this case, the raclette grill is usually placed in the center of the table, accessible to all guests. The potatoes lying on the plate are “doused” with the melted raclette cheese.

Other ingredients could include mini corn cobs, mushrooms, pickles, onions or silver onions, olives, … simply everything your heart desires.

Meat is also, of course, perfectly suitable. Don’t forget pepper and chili for all guests who prefer it spicier.

Cheese fondue is a dish made of melted cheese that originates from the Western Alps — French-speaking Switzerland, Savoy and Piedmont, as well as the Aosta Valley.

Unfortunately, there are now many cheap pre-packaged products on the market with a low cheese content that we cannot recommend. Binders and water can be found among the ingredients.

Cheese fondue is prepared indoors in a cheese fondue pot or cheese fondue set (available cheaply, e.g., on Amazon).

Our proven grated cheese mix provides the aromatic base. But if you want to take your Käsespätzle, gratins, or casseroles to the next level, this intense mountain cheese is your joker. It serves as a highly concentrated seasoning: mix it into the grated cheese mix according to taste to achieve an incomparable, robust depth.

This mountain cheese is a traditional product from our Rehmer Sennhus dairy. It owes its exceptionally intense flavour, while still having a creamy cheese body, to manual care. During this process, the cheese is regularly brushed and washed with iodine-free salt and salt water over many months. This ensures the development of that special, piquant flavour that is indispensable in Alpine cuisine when it comes to true, rustic taste.
